In a move aimed at ensuring patient safety and maintaining order within hospital premises, the Lok Nayak Hospital (LNH), one of Delhi’s largest government-run healthcare facilities, has issued a strict circular prohibiting the feeding of stray dogs anywhere inside the hospital campus.

The directive, issued by the Office of the Medical Director, Lok Nayak Hospital, follows the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s guidelines in the suo motu writ petition (Civil) titled “A City Hounded by Strays, Kids Pay Price” (2025).

The circular clearly states that no individual will be permitted to feed stray dogs within hospital premises under any circumstances.

Hospital authorities have warned that anyone found violating the instructions will face appropriate action in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court of India.

The order underlines concerns related to patient safety, public health, and smooth functioning of critical hospital services, especially in a high-footfall tertiary care institution like LNH.
