The Indian Medical Association Medical Students’ Network, Uttar Pradesh (IMA MSN UP), brought together the next generation of healthcare leaders at Med-Spark 2025, a three-day medico conclave held from August 15 to 17.

With more than 300 delegates from 11 states and over 60 medical colleges, the event emerged as one of the most vibrant platforms for medical students in the region. 

Themed “Empowering Future Doctors through Skills, Knowledge, Leadership & Stress Management in Medical Students,” the conclave blended academic rigor with cultural exchange, practical training, and opportunities for personal growth.  The celebrations began on August 15 with Spark-Nite at Vivanta Resort, Lucknow. Delegates bonded over a poolside dinner and enjoyed a lively evening of music and entertainment.

Performances by Shikhar Singh’s live band and DJ Deepak Gautam kept the gathering charged with energy, setting the tone for the days ahead. The second day took participants on a spiritual and cultural journey to Ayodhya, where they visited the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.

The tour provided a moment of reflection and offered a chance for students, many of whom had traveled from different corners of the country, to connect on a deeper level  The conclave reached its academic peak on August 17 at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, where the North Zonal Conclave unfolded at the Shatabdi Auditorium.

The day was a mix of lectures, competitions, workshops, and cultural performances, drawing enthusiastic participation from all delegates.  One of the highlights of Med-Spark 2025 was its focus on skill-based training.

Delegates engaged in intensive workshops that sharpened their hands-on medical abilities, from life-saving Basic Life Support procedures to trauma care, radiology, respiratory therapy, and surgical techniques such as suturing and knot tying.

These sessions, supported by leading institutions and healthcare partners including Max Healthcare, Cipla, SACTEM, Amboss, and KGMU faculty, reflected IMA MSN’s vision of strengthening practical training for budding doctors. 

The academic sessions inspired equal enthusiasm. Dr. Piyush Jain, Honorary Finance Secretary of IMA HQs, addressed the pressing issue of stress management for medical students, offering strategies to balance academic pressures with emotional resilience.

Dr. Lokendra Gupta, Director of Emergency Medicine at Medanta, spoke passionately about the critical importance of timely intervention in trauma and cardiac care, while Dr. Naveen Porwal made physiology come alive by connecting theory with real-life medical practice. The sessions resonated deeply with students, who found them both intellectually stimulating and relevant to their future careers. 

The event was graced by the presence of several stalwarts of the Indian Medical Association, including Dr. Sharad Kr Agarwal, Dr. Mitesh C. Shah, Dr. P.K. Agarwal, and Dr. Shalabh Gupta, among others. Their words of encouragement highlighted the importance of student leadership and the role of MSN in shaping the future of healthcare.  A special moment came with the launch of “The Cure Chronicles,” a half-yearly magazine that combined IMA MSN UP’s initiatives with the literary and artistic expressions of medical students.

Adding to the excitement were the poster presentation and medical quiz competitions, which drew spirited participation. Teams from Mysore, Lucknow, Kanpur, Muzaffarnagar, and Meerut earned top honors, showcasing the depth of academic talent among delegates. 

As the day wound down, the stage came alive with a cultural program presented by students from various medical colleges across Uttar Pradesh. Dance performances, soulful music, and a skit portraying the journey of a doctor offered a fitting end to the conclave, leaving the audience inspired and entertained. 

Behind the success of Med-Spark 2025 was the tireless leadership of Organising Chairperson Dr. Aman Priya Singh, Co-Chairperson Dr. Vivek Kataruka, and Organising Secretaries Megha Chattopadhyay and Rohan Arora.

Their efforts, supported by the guidance of IMA MSN’s national leaders such as Dr. Shiv Kumar Utture and Dr. Mitesh C. Shah, ensured that the conclave was not only a celebration but also a transformative experience.  For the hundreds of young delegates, Med-Spark 2025 was more than just a conference.

It was a journey of learning, sharing, competing, and celebrating the medico spirit — an experience that will remain etched in their memories as they step forward as the future leaders of healthcare.
