With the NEET UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026, the Ministry of Education has stepped up preparations to ensure a fair, transparent and smooth examination process for medical aspirants across the country.

Union Education Minister  Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Education, state governments, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and higher education institutions to assess the readiness for the re-examination.

The meeting was attended by Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Shri Sanjay Kumar; Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Vineet Joshi; and Director General of NTA, Abhishek Singh, along with senior officials and representatives from various states and institutions.

During the meeting, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan stressed the need to maintain the highest standards of integrity, transparency and efficiency in the examination system. He directed all authorities involved to remain alert and ensure that all necessary arrangements were in place for conducting the re-examination in a free and fair manner.

Emphasising coordination between the Centre, states and examination authorities, the Minister said that officers appointed by the Ministry would visit different states to oversee coordination and report to the Command Centre headed by the Director General of NTA.

He also instructed state nodal officers to ensure that students get all required facilities and appear for the examination in a calm and stress-free environment.

Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, highlighted the importance of making candidates comfortable on examination day. He directed authorities to ensure proper seating arrangements, availability of drinking water and other essential facilities for students before the exam begins.

Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Vineet Joshi, said that the period before the examination was crucial and called for proactive coordination, timely communication of instructions and strict implementation of examination protocols.

Meanwhile, NTA Director GeneralAbhishek Singh said that the agency was working closely with all stakeholders, including district-level coordination committees headed by District Magistrates, state police departments and intelligence agencies, to ensure the smooth conduct of the re-examination.

The review meeting included detailed discussions on security arrangements, examination centre preparedness, coordination mechanisms, grievance redressal systems and strict adherence to examination guidelines.

States and Union Territories were advised to maintain close coordination with all stakeholders to ensure that the examination process remains seamless and transparent.

The meeting was conducted in hybrid mode, with participation from 222 officials, including senior state government representatives, nodal officers of centrally funded institutions, vice-chancellors and directors of higher educational institutions from across the country. Participants assured full cooperation and committed to taking all necessary steps to provide candidates with a smooth and hassle-free examination experience.
