In a significant step toward improving public healthcare in the capital, Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) and Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi have introduced advanced Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) equipment in their Department of Cardiology, strengthening their ability to diagnose and treat complex heart conditions.

The initiative has been made possible through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) collaboration supported by Fiserv, in partnership with United Way Mumbai and implemented by DFY India. The addition of this advanced technology is expected to bring faster, more accurate diagnosis to a hospital that handles a high volume of patients every day.

Speaking on the development, Dr. Kavita Rani Sharma described the move as a meaningful step forward in patient care. She noted that in a large public hospital catering to a diverse population, access to advanced diagnostic tools like TEE can make a crucial difference in ensuring timely and accurate treatment. She also appreciated the continued dedication of the cardiology department, led by Dr. Issar, for maintaining high standards of care.

Highlighting the role of partnerships in strengthening healthcare systems, Dr. Rajat Jain said that collaborations like this bring institutions together with a shared purpose and help create real impact on the ground. Nitu Agarwal also emphasized that supporting healthcare infrastructure is an important part of creating meaningful change, adding that initiatives like this help improve access to better care and outcomes for communities.

The installation was carried out in coordination with key hospital leadership, including Dr. Charu Bamba, Dr. Geetika Khanna, Dr. Rekha Tirkey and Dr. R.P. Saini, ensuring smooth integration of the equipment into the hospital’s existing systems.

The event was also attended by Ganesh Kumar, along with faculty members, nursing officers including Kailash Pal, and the cardiology nursing staff.
