In a major disciplinary action, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has removed the names of four doctors from the Indian Medical Register (IMR) and National Medical Register (NMR) following an FIR registered against them under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The decision, issued through an official public notice dated November 14, 2025, states that the registrations of Dr. Muzaffar Ahmad (Registration No. 14680/2017), Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather (Registration No. 15892/2019), Dr. Muzamil Shakeel (Registration No. 15130/2018), and Dr. Shaheen Saeed (Registration No. 45961/2022) have been revoked with immediate effect.

The notice, signed by Rajiv Sharma, Secretary (In-Charge) of the NMC, confirms that the action was taken “in view of the FIR registered under relevant sections of UAPA,” making it one of the most stringent regulatory steps taken by the Commission in recent months.

While the NMC did not detail the nature of the allegations, the removal from IMR/NMR effectively bars the doctors from practicing medicine anywhere in India, pending further proceedings or legal outcomes.

This development comes amid heightened scrutiny of medical professionals involved in activities beyond the scope of professional conduct, with the Commission reiterating its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the medical profession.
