The Delhi Medical Association (DMA) is gearing up to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new health mission, Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, which officially launches on September 17, which also the birth date of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The nationwide programme is designed to improve women’s health and family well-being, with doctors in Delhi playing a key role.

Backed by more than 20,000 members, DMA has announced a special two-week campaign, Sewa Pakhwara, from September 17 to October 2, to bring the Prime Minister’s vision to life at the community level.

“A clean and healthy environment is the first step towards better living, especially for women and children,” said Dr. Girish Tyagi, President of DMA. “Through Sewa Pakhwara, we aim to promote preventive healthcare, hygiene, and nutrition in line with PM Modi’s call for a healthier India.”

The campaign will begin with a massive cleanliness drive (Safai Abhiyan) at Maulana Azad Medical College on September 17 at 6:00 a.m. Following this, DMA will hold a series of free health camps across Delhi, focusing on issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, anaemia, tuberculosis, and oral and cervical cancer. Antenatal check-ups for women and other specialist services for children will also be offered.

Dr. Satish Lamba, Honorary State Secretary of DMA, said that the association’s 12 branches will be actively involved in delivering these health services. “We are also planning blood donation camps, along with seminars and workshops on menstrual hygiene and nutrition for women, including adolescent girls,” he added.

DMA leaders stressed that the association is working closely with the government and will soon release a detailed schedule of events. “We are fully committed to ensuring the success of Prime Minister Modi’s Abhiyaan. At every stage, our doctors are ready to step forward and serve,” Dr. Tyagi assured.
