In a strong show of control over the new government, Samrat Choudhary has taken over as Bihar’s Chief Minister—and is set to handle some of the state’s most crucial departments himself, including health.

Soon after assuming office, it became clear that Choudhary is not shying away from responsibility. He will be in charge of as many as 29 departments, with key portfolios like health, home, and agriculture under his direct watch.

The leadership change comes after a senior leader from Janata Dal (United) stepped down as Chief Minister and moved to the Rajya Sabha, paving the way for a new power structure in the state.

By keeping the health ministry, Choudhary signals that healthcare could be a top priority for his government. At the same time, holding the home portfolio puts him in direct control of law and order—making his role even more influential.

With multiple high-stakes ministries in his hands, all eyes will now be on how Choudhary balances governance and delivers on key issues in the months ahead.
