Servier India Launches Affordable Biomarker Testing Initiative for AML and Bile Duct Cancer Patients

In a significant step toward expanding access to precision oncology in India, Servier India, a subsidiary of the France-based Servier Group, has launched a nationwide biomarker testing initiative in collaboration with MedGenome and Strand Life Sciences. The initiative aims to make advanced molecular testing for Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) and Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) — a rare bile duct cancer — more affordable and accessible to patients across the country.

Under this initiative, a customized biomarker testing panel has been introduced at subsidized rates, bridging a major gap in access to quality diagnostics that has long been limited to urban centers. The program particularly focuses on IDH1 and IDH2 mutation testing, which play a crucial role in determining targeted treatment options for AML and CCA. In a strong move toward equitable healthcare, these tests will be made available free of cost in government healthcare institutions.

Speaking on the launch, Aurelien Breton, Managing Director, Servier India, said, “Access to timely and precise diagnosis should never depend on where a patient lives or what they can afford. In cancers such as AML and CCA, early molecular testing supports informed treatment decisions and can significantly impact survival rates. Yet, too many patients in India are diagnosed too late. This initiative reflects our deep commitment to closing that gap by bringing advanced biomarker testing closer to patients through partnerships with MedGenome and Strand Life Sciences.”

Echoing the same sentiment, Pratima Tripathi, Commercial Director – Oncology, Servier India, emphasized the clinical importance of precision diagnostics, stating, “Precision oncology begins with precision diagnosis. Identifying genetic mutations is key to guiding treatment decisions for AML and Cholangiocarcinoma, yet molecular testing remains out of reach for many. Through this initiative, we aim to integrate biomarker testing into routine oncology practice, enabling physicians to make evidence-based treatment decisions and improving patient outcomes.”

Adding to this, Aliasgar Patanwala, Market Access Lead at Servier India, highlighted the importance of collaboration in improving healthcare accessibility. “Real access is built through collaborative systems. This initiative is about strengthening last-mile coordination between laboratories, clinicians, and patient pathways — ensuring timely action for both doctors and patients,” he said.

The new testing initiative falls under ‘Servier Care’, the company’s patient support program, which offers comprehensive assistance including financial aid, free drug support, and subsidized diagnostics. The goal is to ensure holistic and continuous support for patients through their entire treatment journey.

With this launch, Servier India reinforces its commitment to advancing precision oncology and equitable healthcare, helping bring world-class diagnostic solutions closer to Indian patients who need them most.

Servier India, a subsidiary of the Servier Group operating in nearly 140 countries, has been serving Indian patients for nearly four decades. The company focuses on therapeutic areas such as cardiometabolism, venous diseases, and oncology, combining global scientific excellence with a strong local presence to drive better health outcomes.

The initiative represents another step toward Servier’s broader global vision of making cutting-edge cancer diagnostics and treatments accessible to all — regardless of geography or financial means.
