In a significant humanitarian initiative aimed at restoring health, confidence and dignity to those in need, the Bharatiya Jain Sangathana (BJS) has commenced a three-day free plastic surgery camp at Pitampura, Delhi. The camp, which began today, is providing specialised reconstructive and corrective surgeries to patients from economically weaker sections, free of cost.

The camp focuses on treating a wide range of congenital and acquired conditions, including cleft lip and palate, post-burn deformities, hand deformities, facial injuries and other reconstructive needs that often remain untreated due to financial constraints. A team of experienced plastic surgeons, anesthetists, nurses and paramedical staff have come together to offer their services voluntarily, ensuring patients receive high-quality medical care in a safe and compassionate environment.

Speaking about the initiative, representatives of Bharatiya Jain Sangathana said the camp reflects the organisation’s long-standing commitment to social service and inclusive healthcare. “Plastic surgery is often misunderstood as cosmetic, but for many patients it is life-changing and essential for normal functioning and social acceptance. Through this camp, we aim to give people a chance to live with dignity and confidence,” a BJS official said.

Patients were screened and registered in advance, following which eligible cases were selected for surgery during the three-day programme. In addition to surgical intervention, the camp also provides pre-operative counselling, post-operative care and follow-up guidance to ensure long-term recovery and well-being.

Local residents and beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the initiative, noting that such camps not only address medical needs but also help reduce the emotional and psychological burden carried by patients with visible deformities.

Over the years, Bharatiya Jain Sangathana has organised several free medical camps across the country, including those focused on plastic surgery, eye care and general health, touching thousands of lives. The Pitampura camp once again underlines the role of civil society organisations in bridging critical gaps in healthcare access, especially for underserved communities.

The three-day camp is expected to benefit dozens of patients and stands as a testament to the power of collective effort in bringing healing and hope to those who need it most.
