The Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI), affiliated with the University of Delhi, has been selected as a Center of Excellence by the World Allergy Organization (WAO) for the 2026–2029 term.

The recognition places VPCI among a distinguished group of global institutions acknowledged for their contributions to advancing research, education, and clinical innovation in the field of allergy and immunology. The WAO Centers of Excellence program aims to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and promote high standards in patient care and scientific development worldwide.

Dr. Raj Kumar, Director of VPCI, described the achievement as a proud milestone for the institute. He also expressed gratitude to the institution’s leadership, including the Vice Chancellor and the Governing Body Chairperson, for their continued support in elevating the institute’s global standing.

The designation is expected to further enhance VPCI’s role in international research collaborations and reinforce its commitment to addressing respiratory and allergic diseases through cutting-edge scientific work and training programs.
