What began as a sorrowful journey home for a family in Uttar Pradesh turned into a moment that many are calling nothing short of miraculous. In Pilibhit, a 50-year-old woman who had been declared “brain-dead” by doctors suddenly started breathing again after the ambulance carrying her home hit a pothole on the Bareilly-Haridwar National Highway (NH-74).

Vineeta Shukla had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bareilly after her health deteriorated severely. Doctors informed her family that there were almost no signs of life and that her chances of survival were extremely slim. With little hope remaining, the medical team discharged her, and the grieving family began preparing for the worst.

Her husband, Kuldeep Kumar Shukla, arranged for an ambulance to take her back home to Pilibhit. The journey was filled with grief as the family believed they were bringing Vineeta home for the final time. According to Kuldeep, doctors had even advised the family to prepare for her last rites.

As the ambulance travelled along a stretch of the Bareilly-Haridwar highway known for its potholes, it suddenly struck a large one, causing the vehicle to jolt violently. What happened next stunned everyone inside the ambulance.

Kuldeep recalled that moments after the sudden jolt, Vineeta began breathing normally again. The unexpected change left the family in shock. For Kuldeep, it felt like witnessing a miracle. He immediately called his family members and asked them to stop the funeral preparations.

Vineeta was quickly taken for further medical evaluation. Doctors later conducted a series of tests to understand her condition. Earlier examinations had indicated severe neurological complications along with toxins detected in her bloodstream, which had caused her condition to worsen dramatically.

Neurologist Dr Rakesh Singh of Neurocity Hospital later examined her before beginning treatment. After carefully reviewing her physical condition and the medical diagnosis from the Bareilly hospital, doctors started providing meticulous treatment to stabilise her health.

According to the doctors, the diagnosis and the subsequent medical care played a significant role in her recovery. Over time, Vineeta’s condition improved remarkably.

Soon after, she was able to return home. For Kuldeep and his family, the moment was overwhelming. Only days earlier, they had been preparing to bid her farewell forever. Instead, they were welcoming her back.

Kuldeep says she is now not only awake but also talking to the family. What began as a heartbreaking journey had turned into an extraordinary story of survival.

For Vineeta Shukla’s family, the pothole on that highway will always be remembered in a very different way — not as a sign of a bad road, but as the moment when life unexpectedly returned.
