Yogi Announces ₹5 Lakh Free Cashless Healthcare Cover for Uttar Pradesh Teachers

In a major welfare announcement in the Uttar Pradesh State Assembly, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that teachers across the state will be provided free cashless medical treatment of up to ₹5 lakh, underscoring the government’s focus on strengthening healthcare support for educators.

Speaking during the session, the Chief Minister said the initiative is aimed at ensuring financial security and timely medical care for teachers and their families, acknowledging their vital role in shaping society. He emphasised that access to quality healthcare should not become a financial burden, especially for those serving in the education sector.

According to officials, the scheme will enable eligible teachers to avail treatment at empanelled hospitals under a cashless framework, significantly reducing out-of-pocket medical expenses during emergencies and critical illnesses.

The announcement drew positive responses from members of the Assembly, with several calling it a long-pending relief measure for the teaching community. Education stakeholders also noted that the decision is likely to enhance morale and provide a safety net against rising healthcare costs.

The state government is expected to release detailed guidelines soon, outlining eligibility norms, hospital empanelment, and implementation procedures to ensure smooth rollout of the ₹5 lakh cashless treatment benefit for teachers across Uttar Pradesh.
