Zimbabwe has become the first country in Africa to authorize the use of Covaxin, India's indigenous Covid-19 vaccine. This has been informed by the Indian High Commission in Zimbabwe.

Covaxin, along with Covishield, was approved by the Drugs Controller General (India) in January 2021 for emergency use.
