HYDERABAD : Dr Reddy's Laboratories on May 6, 2019, said it has launched its generic version of AndroGel testosterone gel in the US market. The drug is used in treating adult males with low or no testosterone due to certain medical conditions.

The company's testosterone gel 1.62%, which is a therapeutic equivalent generic version of AndroGel 1.62% of AbbVie Inc, was approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, Dr Reddy's said in a press statement.

Quoting  IQVIA Health data for the 12 months ended February 2019, Dr Reddy's said AndroGel brand and generic versions had US sales of approximately $ 815.6 million.

Secondary Exposure to Testosterone warning including Virilization has been reported in kids who were secondarily exposed to testosterone gel. Kids should avoid contact with unwashed or unclothed application sites in men using testosterone gel and healthcare providers should advise people to strictly adhere to recommended instructions for use.
