Indian doctors to focus on prevention, early detection of NCDs

Dr. Prathap C Reddy, the Founder President of the Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) has said, “GAPIO is focusing on prevention and early detection of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and will enhance efforts to control it”. Dr Reddy was speaking at the 9th Mid-Year GAPIO Conference-2019 held in Antigua recently.

He said, “NCDs are a global epidemic, claiming 63 per cent of all deaths. Globally, the diseases burden is set to increase significantly in the next 10 years.”

Dr. Anupam Sibal, Group Medical Director, Apollo Hospitals said, “GAPIO is the platform that brings together medical doctors of Indian origin from different countries. Our doctors are recognized globally for their contribution to medicine. The high caliber of the presentations was reflective of this capability".

Dr. Nandakumar Jairam, Chairman, CEO & GMD, Columbia Asia hospitals, said, “Global Indian doctors body has organized 16 soft skills enhancement training seminars under Leadership Development Programs across India. Clinical Knowledge development programme will commence in New Delhi on July 1, 2019."

Dr. Sudhir Parikh of Parikh World Wide Media, highlighted, “GAPIO now has representation from 34 nations. In the next few years, plans will be created to expand the presence of GAPIO. Social media will be used efficiently to break geographical barriers. A resource centre to be created.”

Dr. Ramesh Mehta, President of GAPIO, stated, “The scientific sessions on recent developments and advances in Cardiology, Metabolic Syndrome like Obesity and Diabetes were highly appreciated by the delegates in the conference.”

GAPIO is a non-profit organization founded in January 2011 to bring together 1.4 million physicians of Indian origin in the world on one professional platform.
