Control Room to inform ICU beds availability in Delhi

 BS RAWAT
NEW DELHI : After strictness from the Delhi High Court, the Centre today informed the Court that it has decided to operate a centralized control room to inform patients the status of ICU beds in its hospitals in the national capital.

It may be recalled that a child patient died recently after being denied treatment for want of an ICU bed.

The government said that the control room will be set up in Safdarjung hospital to enable patients to see the status of availability of ICU beds and ventilators in Central Government hospitals, including the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.

The move came after Advocate Ashok Agarwal informed the Delhi High Court that no new ICU bed with Ventilator has been added in any Delhi Government Hospital despite Court order dated 13.2.2019.

The Division Bench of Delhi High Court directed both Central Government and Delhi Government to file status report. The next date of hearing is 26.2.2020.
