Hundreds of research scholars (PhD students) of Delhi-AIIMS went on to strike on February 13, 2020, alleging that hostel administration was biased against doctors while allocating hostels.

Mr Lal Chand Viswakarma said that research scholars stay in hostel till submission of their thesis or till five years but they are not given extension of stay.

“This is causing residential problem for the students. Administration is biased against us. They favor junior doctors for allotment instead of research scholars. This is the reason we have gone on strike. We will have meeting with AIIMS’ director to discuss the issue,” added Mr Viswakarma.

It may be noted that research scholars play a pivotal role in research at AIIMS.
