A 3-year-old child, who recently traveled to Italy with his family, has tested positive for coronavirus in Kerala. The child has been kept in isolation ward at Ernakulam Medical College.

On the increasing number of cases of the virus, the Union Health Ministry has said that government is keeping a close watch on the situation and a number of measures have been taken to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The ministry said that the cabinet secretary took the 16th review meeting on March 8, 2020, and the preparations to bring Indian citizens from Iran were elaborately discussed, which are at an advanced stage.

According to the ministry, since the disease has spread to more than 90 countries with over 1 lakh cases worldwide, the states and union territories have been asked to enhance community surveillance as per the list of passengers provided to the states and union territories.
