Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has revealed a plan, titled 5 T, to contain corona virus that has infected more than five hundred people in the national capital and killed seven.

In a digital address, Kejriwal said, “First T is testing. We have seen that the countries which did not test for the virus, they only ended up with an outbreak of the virus. We have seen this measure in South Korea where they identify each person for corona virus. They test him and quarantine him. In line of South Korea, we are doing it in Delhi.”

“We have placed an order of one lakh testing kits for rapid testing people for corona virus. From Friday, we will be obtaining these kits for testing. We will conduct rapid testing in hot spots such as Dilshad Garden and Nizamuddin to ascertain whether the virus is spreading in other areas or not,” added Kejriwal.

“Second T is tracing. We know that this person is corona positive. To know to whom this person met are identified by the officials. These identified persons are directed to self quarantine.  Now, we are taking the help of police. We have given 27,702 telephone numbers to trace or monitor them to know whether they are following self quarantine or not,” he explained.

“We will also give phone numbers of two thousand people who attended Jamat in Markaz in Nizamuddin to track their locations if they had visited other areas of the Delhi. Areas visited by these people will be sealed,” he added.

Kejriwal said, “Third T is treatment. We have prepared three thousand beds for corona patients. We have declared LNJP, Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty and GB pant hospitals as corona hospitals. These three hospitals have 2450 beds. We have declared four hundred private hospitals beds as coviid-19 beds. The hospitals, which have been declared as corona beds include Max-Saket, Apollo and Ganga Ram Kolmet.”

“If the number of patients crosses three thousand, we will declare GTB hospital as corona hospital. GTB has 1500 beds. We have prepared plans if cases of the corona virus increase more. If we have thirty thousand corona patients, we will have eight thousand hospital beds. We have made detailed preparation on it. We have earmarked hospitals which will have eight thousand beds for treatment of corona positives. We will also take over twelve thousand hotel rooms,” informed Kejrwial.

“We will keep banquets and Dharmshalas for ten thousand. Patients with co-morbidities such as cancer, diabetes and hypertension and above 50 years of age will be admitted at hospitals. Others will be kept in hotels and other facilities. These facilities will have all medical services. For thirty thousand patients, we will need four hundred ventilators and twelve hundred oxygen beds. We are planning it,” he added.

Kejriwal said that fourth T is team work. Corona can be defeated by team work. All states are doing exemplary work. All governments and people will have to work as a family to fight the virus. We have to protect doctors and nurses who are warriors to tackle the menace. I have heard the doctors are being denied entry in colonies where they reside. This will not be tolerated,” he said.

“Fifth T is tracking and monitoring, which is very important. All the issues about tackling the problem are my responsibility. I am monitoring all the planning and management to contain the disease,” explained the Delhi CM.
