Mayors of Delhi's North, East and South Corporations are sitting outside the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi seeking his intervention in payment of salaries of employees, which have been pending for months.

The mayors have claimed that the Delhi government is yet to pay Rs 13000 crore to the corporations.

The mayors’ move has come after mounting pressure from resident doctors of Hindu Rao Hospital (HRH), who have continued their strike for the last 22 days and five doctors have been on hunger strike since October 23, 2020, in protest against unpaid salaries for the last four months.

Not only resident doctors, but senior doctors of the Corporation will also strike work from October 27, 2020, if their pending salary of three months is not paid. They are on mass casual leave on October 26, 2020.

It is understood that not only doctors but salaries of other staff of the corporations has not been paid. “Either call us in or we will sit here in protest. We would not move from here,” said the mayors while sitting outside Kejriwal's house.
