The Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand witnessed its first case of the Delta plus AY-12 variant of COVID-19 on August 30, 2021.

The case was logged in Kotdwar—a small locality in Pauri Garhwal.

According to the State Health Department, necessary guidelines have been issued and the concerned patient has been asked to remain in-home quarantine and is continuously being monitored by the medical team of the health department.

Officials said that they are tracing the relatives and other people who came in contact with the patient.

Tests are also being conducted at the entry points of the Pauri Garhwal district. A total of 15 new COVID-19 infections have been witnessed in the district.

“Travel history of the patient of Delta Plus variant of coronavirus is being taken. Along with this, the relatives and other people who came in contact with the patient are being traced,” Chief Medical Officer, Pauri, Dr. Manoj Sharma said.

Meanwhile, the number of infections of the Delta Plus variant of COVID-19 in Rudraprayag district surged to 15 after a new infection was witnessed on August 30, 2021, the district health department said.
