In a unique incident of organ donation, an 8-month-old pregnant woman has donated the liver, kidney and heart valves of her brain-dead husband to a needy patient in Bengaluru. Her husband died in a road accident on October 30, 2018, in Yelahanka, a suburb of Bengaluru.

The woman was in a state of shock after she heard the news of the death of her husband. But she controlled her emotions and grief and decided to donate the organs that could give life to a needy person.

The noble cause was made possible by doctors who alerted Jeevasarthakathe about the brain-dead man. Jeevasarthakathe is a body formed by the Karnataka government that mediates between the organ donors and the organ receivers.

Jeevasarthakathe also educates and encourages people for organ donation.
