Delhi: RML Hospital workers threaten hunger strike

NEW DELHI : Hospital services are likely to be hit from July 3, 2019, as a section of the staff of the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi, has threatened to go on hunger strike if their demands are not met in the next few days.

Hundreds of hospital workers under the banner of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital Karamchari Union have been demonstrating in the hospital premises to pitch for their 11-point demand.

"Our first demand is a job to the dead workers' family as per their qualification and experience,”  Mukesh Sharma, General Secretary of the Union, told DTMT.

"Other demands include regularization of all contractual workers, immediate payment of modified Assured Career Progression, drinking water facility in all departments and special OPD facility for hospital workers and their families,” Mr Sharma said.

He said many employees, from other hospitals, including Lady Hardinge Medical College, Safdarjung Hospital, Charak Hospital and RAK College of Nursing sat on dharna as a mark of protest.
