Over 50 lakh treated under Ayushman Bharat: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that over 50 lakh patients have received free treatment under Ayushman Bharat. The scheme, which has completed one year since its launch, provides free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh to poor in private and government hospitals.

PM Modi tweeted on October 15, 2019: “An important milestone in the journey of creating a healthy India! It would make every Indian proud that in a year, over 50 lakh citizens have benefited from free of cost treatment thanks to Ayushman Bharat. Apart from curing, this scheme is empowering several Indians.”

Ayushman Bharat is world’s largest health insurance scheme, which aims to provide easy access to medical facilities to over 10.74 Crore poor people in the country.

Under Ayushman Bharat, also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna, 16,085 Hospitals have been empaneled and over 10 Crore e-Cards issued.

Nearly 17,150 Health and Wellness Centers have become operational across the country under Ayushman Bharat.
