Dr Vardhan assails Kejriwal over inadequate health services

BS RAWAT
NEW DELHI:
Launching a frontal attack on the Aam Aadmi Party led Delhi Government, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has released five points against the Arvind Kejriwal government, alleging that it “misguided and befooled” the people in the last five years. It may be noted that assembly elections are due within weeks in Delhi.

Dr Vardhan said, “No substantial improvement in Delhi Government Hospitals. Many poor patients die every day for want of ICU beds in its healthcare facilities.”

“Most dangerous policy of Kejriwal Government is to unleash unjust and unconstitutional discrimination between Delhi residents and Non-Delhi residents in providing treatment in its hospitals. Despite High Court quashing Delhi Government order on ban on outside patients in GTB Hospital, all state Government hospitals continue to unjustly discriminate between Delhi and Non Delhi residents in providing treatment,” the Union Minister said.

The Kejriwal Govt. right from day one is biased against patients coming from outside Delhi for treatment in its hospitals, he added.

Blaming the Delhi Government for incomplete infrastructure, Dr Vardhan stated that the Delhi Government has not added even a single ventilator bed in last five years to its hospitals despite Delhi High Court orders for having at least 10% Ventilator Beds of total bed strength.

When asked about Delhi Government hospital like Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences being run on highly commercial basis denying treatment to poor patients, Dr Vardhan stated, “This Government is unconcerned about poor patients.”
