Delhi receives 549000 doses of Covid vaccine

It is understood that the Delhi government has received 549000 doses of Covidshield --the corona vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca.

As per sources, the doses were dispatched from Serum Institute of India (SII) early in the morning on January 12, 2021. The doses have been received at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

From the airport, the doses were dispatched to Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital (RGSSH) in Tahir Pur, Dilshad Garden, for storage. From RGSSH, the doses are expected to be dispatched to other dedicated hospitals and healthcare facilities where vaccination will begin on January 16, 2021.

The vaccines will first be administered to 51 people in Delhi.

Those who will be vaccinated in the first phase include healthcare and frontline workers and those who are above 50 years of age.
