Corona surge prompts curbs in several states

The rapid spread of coronavirus in India is not slowing down. Taking a cue from the Delhi government, the Punjab government has also imposed night curfew till April-end to contain the virus' transmission. Punjab is among the top states which is recording daily rise in coronavirus cases.

Lockdown has returned in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. Raipur district collector S Bharathi Dasan has announced that the district is being declared a containment zone from April 9 to April 19, 2021. All the borders of the district will remain sealed during this period, he told the media on April 7, 2021. It may be noted that Chhattisgarh has reported a surge in corona virus cases while district Raipur is worst hit by the virus.

Karnataka government has imposed section 144 in Bengaluru to curb the virus spread. Delhi government has already imposed night curfew to prevent the spread.

Maharashtra government too has already imposed local curbs in the state to prevent cases of the virus. Shortage of Covid vaccines has been reported in Mumbai.

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Padnekar told the media that there is a shortage of Covid-19 vaccine doses in Mumbai. Yesterday, they had 1,76,000 vaccine doses but in the coming days they will require more vaccines, she added.

Delhi’s AAP unit has demanded that vaccines should be made available at chemist shops. The party protested at the headquarters of the BJP in Delhi.
