A total of 41,649 new COVID-19 cases, 593 deaths, and 37,291 recoveries were reported in India in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 3, 16, 13,993 in the country, the Health Ministry said on July 31, 2021.

With this, the daily positivity rate stood at 2.34%.

According to the official data, as many as 3, 07, 81,263 people have been recovered in the country so far while the total toll hit 4,23,810.

Active cases have decreased by 3,765 in the last 24 hours. There are currently 4, 08,920 active cases, which constitute 1.29% of total cases.

Testing capacity substantially ramped up as 46.64 crore samples have been tested so far.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 46, 64, 27,038 samples were tested up to July 30, out of which, 17, 76,315 samples were tested yesterday.

The Health Ministry has informed that the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered under the nationwide vaccination drive has reached 46, 15, 18,479.

Kerala continues to contribute the majority of the fresh cases. Out of the total active caseload, 1.61 lakh are from Kerala.

Meanwhile, nearly 194 million people are affected by COVID-19 worldwide, as per WHO. Globally the number of coronavirus deaths jumped by 21% during the period, it added. Most of the deaths (69,000) were reported in the Americas and Southeast Asia.
