Maratha community students protesting against SC verdict in Mumbai

PG medical quota: Marathas protest against SC order

 DTMT Network
MUMBAI : Hundreds of Maratha community students whose postgraduate (PG) admission in medical colleges has been cancelled are protesting against the Supreme Court order at Azad Maidan, Mumbai.

The Supreme Court last week upheld the verdict of the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court, cancelling the 16% Maratha reservation in medical PG admissions this year.

Over 290 Maratha students have been affected by the SC order. Earlier, a delegation of the affected students had met Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on the SC verdict in the case.

Virendra Pawar of Maratha Kranti Morcha said, "Our organisation gave a call for this demonstration late on May 12 night and so the residents from Mumbai, Thane and nearby areas will be joining the protest.”

He said that they have shown their strength multiple times earlier also. This is for the community students and their career, he added.
