Modi Cabinet okays bill to amend Dentists Act

NEW DELHI : To make the Dental Council of India (DCI) more efficient, the Union Cabinet has okayed the introduction of a Bill to amend the Dentists Act, 1948.
The cabinet resolution provides for modifications to the provisions of the Dentists Act with regard to the membership of the DCI and membership of state and joint state dental councils.
The amendment will help streamline the Dental Councils and the representation of the Union government members and elected members would no longer be made compulsory in the dental councils.
The new Bill will be introduced in the Parliament session beginning July 17, 2019.
