The Indian Medical Association has written to India's Home Minister Mr Amit Shah demanding a special central law against violence on doctors and healthcare establishments.
The IMA has also demanded that such a central law should provide for a minimum of seven years imprisonment in cases of hospital violence.
In a letter signed by Hony. General Secretary Dr R V Asokan, the doctors' body has sought provisions in the law on the lines of POSCO so that cases are registered and culprits are convicted.
