ACETYLCYSTEINE

It is a potent mucolytic, induces thin bronchial secretion and is used to clear bronchial congestion. It is specially used as an antidote for acetaminophen toxicity.

Indications

Acetaminophen overdose, Nasal Congestion, Dry Cough, Sore throat, asthma, and chronic inflammatory pulmonary conditions.

Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity, asthma.

Special Precautions

Pregnant women and asthma patients should use this after consulting a doctor.

Side Effects

Vomiting, rash, fever, abdominal discomfort, and chest tightness.

Drug Interactions

Azithromycin, chloramphenicol, clarithromycin, doxycycline, erythromycin, and vancomycin.
