Adalimumab

It is human monoclonal antibody which binds specifically to Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-?) and blocks its interaction with the p55 and p75 cell surface TNF receptors.

Indications

Rheumatoid Arthritis, Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis and axial spondyloarthritis


Dosage

S.C.; dose varied from 40-160 mg weekly


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity, Heart Failure, Tuberculosis

Paediatric: Safety in infant not yet established Pregnancy: Category B Lactation: Caution to be exercised Elderly: Caution to be exercised


Side Effects

Reactivation of latent infection, Infection, risk of malignancy, Upper respiratory infection, Sinusitis, Flu syndrome. Nausea, Abdominal pain, Hypercholesterolemia, Hyperlipidemia, Hematuria, Alkaline phosphatase increased Headache, Rash, Urinary tract infection, Hypertension
