ALPHA ARBUTIN

It is a potent antioxidant commercially used in various cosmetic preparations such as face washes, creams, gels and lotions. It contains anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anti-melanogenic activity. It is extracted from dried leaves of the bearberry plant and is also used in the treatment of urinary tract infections. It inhibits the tyrosinase activity and reduces melanin formation in the body.

Indications

Melasma, hyperpigmentation, scars, sun spots, post-blemish redness, acne and urinary tract infection.

Dosage

An ideal dosage is 0.2-2% for 2 to 3 months.

Contra-Indications

Sensitivity, severe wounds, previous skin infections.

Side Effects

Skin irritation, sunburns, redness, inflammation, rashes, mild acne.
