Amra

Amra ( Spondias pinnata) is also known as hog plum or amrataka and is used to exhibit gastroprotective, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, hepatoprotective, and hypoglycemic properties. According to Ayurveda, it helps to balance vata and pitta dosha.

Indications

Indigestion, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, irregular menstruation, diabetes, arthritis.


Dosage

The recommended dose for amra juice is 10-20 ml, and for powder is 2-3 grams per day.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.


Special Precautions

It is not recommended to use amra during pregnancy and breastfeeding.


Side Effects

Vomiting, cough, constipation, gastritis, and weakness.
