Arnica or arnica montana is widely used in homoeopathic preparation. It is commercially available in tablets and tincture forms. Arnica is a potent anti-inflammatory drug and has analgesic, antiarthritic, anti-cancer, and antimicrobial properties.

Indications

Muscle pain, bruises, sprains, joint pain, inflammation, osteoarthritis, insect bites, skin issues, and hair loss.


Contra-Indications

Patients with hypersensitivity to arnica.


Special Precautions

Avoid or consult a doctor before using it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.


Side Effects

Allergic reactions such as rash redness, irritation, breathlessness, abdominal discomfort, palpitation, and hypertension.


Drug Interactions

Heparin, Warfarin, clopidogrel and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen. According to the Homeopathic system of medicine, Arnic also interacts with ginger, garlic, ginkgo, and ginseng, and can cause severe side effects.
