Atazanavir with Ritonavir

The combination of atazanavir and ritonavir is used in the treatment of HIV-1 infection or AIDS. Atazanavir and ritonavir both belong to a class of antiretroviral medications, known as protease inhibitors.

Indications

Human immunodeficiency viruses ( HIV) or AIDS.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity reactions, hepatic diseases, diabetes, renal diseases,and haemophilia.


Special Precautions

It is recommended by physicians that this medication should not be used during breastfeeding and pregnancy.


Side Effects

Pain, abdominal discomfort, dizziness, rash, irritation, joint pain, weakness, and nausea.


Drug Interactions

Anti-allergy medication like terfenadine, antI-psychotic drugs, antidepressants, anti-cancer drugs, oral contraceptives such as ethinyl estradiol, and antiasthmatic drugs.
