Duloxetine

Duloxetine is an antidepressant drug.

Indications

Major depressive disorders.


Dosage

Adult min/max. : 40mg/60mg orally.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity to duloxetine. Narrow angle glaucoma, severe hepatic disease, disease of liver, suicidal ideation, bipolar disorders, epilepsy, hypertension.


Special Precautions

Paediatrics : Use with caution if clearly indicated. Lactation: not recommended. Pregnancy : use only when necessary. May cause neonatal respiratory distress.


Side Effects

Anorexia, constipation, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, gastritis, dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, cramps, tremors, hyperhydrosis, xerostomia, weight loss, dysurea, flushing, blurred vision, acne vulgaris, pruritus of skin, skin rash, alopecia. Duloxetine may also cause disorder of ejaculation and orgasm disorder.


Drug Interactions

Amphetamines, antidepressants, bupropion, fluvoxamine, MAOI's, quinolones, serotonin, reuptake inhibitors, selected SSRI's, sibutramine, thioridazine, trazodone, tricyclic compounds, venlafaxine.
