Flavoxate Hydrochloride & Ofloxacin

Flavoxate Hydrochloride is an antispasmodic agent that acts on smooth muscle, primarily in the urinary tract. It is used to relieve symptoms associated with urinary frequency, urgency, and incontinence. Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic effective against a wide range of bacteria.

Indications

-Flavoxate Hydrochloride: Symptomatic relief of dysuria, urgency, nocturia, suprapubic pain, frequency, and incontinence as may occur in cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, and related disorders. -Ofloxacin: Treatment of urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and other bacterial infections.


Dosage

Contra-Indications

-Known hypersensitivity to Flavoxate Hydrochloride or Ofloxacin. -Contraindicated in patients with a history of tendon disorders related to the use of fluoroquinolones.


Special Precautions

-Caution in patients with a history of myasthenia gravis. -Avoid in patients with known QT prolongation or risk factors for torsades de pointes. -Monitor for signs of tendinitis or tendon rupture.


Side Effects

-Flavoxate Hydrochloride: Dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, and dizziness. -Ofloxacin: Nausea, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness. Serious side effects may include tendon rupture, central nervous system effects, and Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.


Drug Interactions

-Flavoxate Hydrochloride: May potentiate the effects of other anticholinergic drugs. -Ofloxacin: Avoid concomitant use with Class IA and III antiarrhythmics due to potential QT prolongation.
