ISOXSUPRINE

It is a long acting selective b-stimulant and has direct smooth muscle relaxant property as well. It is used as uterine relaxant for threatened abortion and dymenorrhoea. Also used for peripheral and cerebral vascular diseases.

Indications

Premature labour, threatened or habitual abortion.

Dosage

Initially 20 mg (2 tab) 3-4 times daily after meals; reduce gradually following improvement.

Contra-Indications

Presence of recent aterial haemorrhage. Acute coronary thrombosis.

Special Precautions

Severe angina pectoris, Hyperthyroidism, recent myocardial lesion, paroxysmal tachycardia. Pregnancy: Use with caution. Lactation: Use with caution. Elderly: Safe.

Side Effects

Dizziness, nausea, vomiting, ypertension, palpitation, rash, abdominal disturbances.

Drug Interactions

Should not be combined with beta adrenoceptor antagonists.
