OXYPHENONIUM

OXYPHENONIUM

It is similar to propantheline, recommended for peptic ulcer & gastro intestinal hypermotility.

Indications

Peptic ulcer, gastritis, hyperacidity, hypermotility. As adjunct in anti diarrheaic therapy.


Dosage

5-10 mg. 4 times daily.


Contra-Indications

Tachycardia, myastheni gravis, toxic megacolon, glaucoma, pyloric obstruction. Prostatic hypertrophy.


Special Precautions

Driving or operating machinery. Diarrhoea may be an early sign of incomplete intestinal obstruction. Elderly patients or with chronic lung disease. Paediatrics: Use with caution. Pregnancy: Use with caution. Lactation: Use with caution. Elderly: Use with caution.


Side Effects

Blurred vision, headache, constipation, dry mouth, urine retention, drowsiness.


Drug Interactions

Potentiated by amantidine , some anti histamine Phenothiazines and Tricyclic Antidepressants.Interferes with absorption of other drugs.
