RAMELTEON

It is a novel MT1 and MT2 melatonin receptor selective agonist used for the treatment of insomnia characterized by difficulty in sleep onset.

Indications

insomnia associated with difficulty in onset of sleep

Dosage

Oral; 8mg half hour before going to bed

Special Precautions

Sleep disturbance may occur Paediatric: Data not sufficient Pregnancy: category C. Lactation: Data not sufficient. Elderly: No differences were observed in safety or efficacy between elderly and younger adult subjects.

Side Effects

Somnolence, fatigue, dizziness, nausea

Drug Interactions

Fluvoxamine,Rifampin, Ketoconazole, Fluconazole, Donepezil, Doxepin.
