Torsemide

Torsemide is used to reduce extra fluid in the body caused by situations such as heart failure, kidney disease, and liver disease. This can lessen indications such as shortness of breath and swelling in your arms, legs, and abdomen.

Indications

Edema. DEMADEX is indicated for the treatment of edema associated with heart failure, renal disease or hepatic disease. Hypertension. DEMADEX is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure

Dosage

Oedema: 5mg once daily, preferably in morning, increase, if required to 20mg once daily. Hypertension: 2.5mg once daily, increase, if required to 20mg once daily.

Contra-Indications

Breast feeding, also as under frusemide.

Special Precautions

Before taking torsemide, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.

Side Effects

Frequent urination, headache, cough, sore throat, hearing loss, ringing in your ears, upset stomach, constipation, diarrhea, weakness, excessive thirst

Drug Interactions

Similar to diuretics (as under frusemide).
