India’s microsurgery set to witness qualitative change with latest robotic technology

Microsurgery in India is set to witness a qualitative change with the launching of the Da Vinci Robotic surgical system, delivering better 3-D visualisation precision surgery across all clinical specialities to provide Comprehensive Robotic Care to its patients at the Bangaluru-based Sakra World Hospital.

In a statement released recently, the hospital informed that the robot was launched at an event organised in presence of the Police Commissioner of Bangalore, Pratap Reddy and a host of other dignitaries including, Yuchi Nagano, MD and Naoya Matsumi, Deputy Managing Director at Sakra World Hospital.

Terming the introduction of the robotic surgical system as the need of the hour, the Managing Director at Sakra World Hospital,  Yuchi Nagano said that the hospital has taken the right decision toward consolidating one of the highly technical advancements with advanced integrated systems to make surgical procedures precise and safe while speaking on the occasion.

“Not only will this technology ensure precisely, bloodless surgery with minimal scarring, and less pain resulting in faster recovery and reduced hospital stay for patients, it will help our surgeons reach the inaccessible areas to perform surgery with the magnification of surgical field, provide precise control and improved endo-wrist movement which is at the forefront of delivering efficient, precise and safe surgical care,” he added.

“With Da Vinci surgical system at our hospital, we are now geared up to perform the most complicated surgeries without any hassle,” he further added.

The FDA-approved innovative robotic surgical tool comes with advanced energy systems, stapling and instruments and can be used to conduct surgeries for specialities including Cardiology, Urology, Gastrointestinal Surgery, gynaecology, and ENT, the statement from the hospital read.

“For a surgeon, irrespective of the speciality we treat, it is extremely crucial to ensure the utmost safety of the patient while performing any surgery. With the availability of tools like the Da Vinci robotic system, we can now perform complicated surgeries with accuracy, precision and minimum chances of making errors using instruments that have unmatched dexterity,” Dr Adil Sadiq, the head of the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery department at the hospital added.
