CSIR-NISCPR Hosts Student-Science Connect Program on Climate Change

The Jigyasa Division of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (NISCPR) organized a Student-Science Connect program titled “Impact of Climate Change: Food and Water Sustainability” at the Vivekananda Hall, CSIR-NISCPR campus, New Delhi.


The program aimed to engage school students and inspire action towards sustainability through science education. A total of 55 students participated, representing Kendriya Vidyalaya BSF Camp Chawla and Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri, New Delhi.

Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director of CSIR-NISCPR, highlighted the significance of addressing climate change issues. She announced the launch of the ‘Wrinkle Achche Hain’ campaign, where staff will wear non-ironed clothes to promote energy conservation. The campaign seeks to raise awareness about climate change and encourage students to actively participate in environmental conservation and energy-saving practices.

The event featured an engaging activity titled “Doing Science is Fun,” led by Amit Kumar Sharma from the Nirbhaya Science Museum, MCD, New Delhi. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to visit the SVASTIK Exhibition.

Principal Investigator and Nodal of the CSIR-NIScPR Jigyasa project, Dr. Suman Ray (Principal Scientist), Dr. Shiv Narayan Nishad, Senior Scientist, and Dr. Kanika Malik, Senior Principal Scientist, were also present to support the event.

The program underscores the institute's commitment to fostering environmental awareness and empowering future generations to make positive contributions to sustainability and climate action.
