Lupin Receives ISO 14001 & 45001 Certifications for All Its Indian Facilities

Mumbai-based global pharmaceutical MNC Lupin has recently announced that all 12 of its manufacturing sites, its Research and Development Centre, and corporate office in India have completed rigorous audits and received certifications from DNV for ISO 14001, an international standard that outlines the requirements for an effective Environmental Management System (EMS).

It provides a structured framework for organisations to manage and reduce their environmental impact through continuous improvement, legal compliance, risk management, and stakeholder involvement. The process involves planning, implementing, checking, and acting on environmental practices to ensure ongoing enhancement. Benefits include waste reduction, cost savings, improved reputation, legal compliance, and increased employee engagement.

The company further announced that it has also received ISO 45001, designed to improve workplace safety by providing a structured framework for organizations. Its main goal is to prevent work-related injuries, illnesses, and fatalities.

It may be recalled that the standard encourages continuous improvement in health and safety practices, involves employee participation, and ensures compliance with legal requirements. By adopting ISO 45001, organisations can systematically manage and reduce occupational health and safety risks.

“We are very proud of this achievement,” said Nilesh Gupta, Managing Director of Lupin in a statement. “It acknowledges our steadfast commitment to excellence in environmental stewardship and workplace safety. This is a reflection of our ongoing efforts to integrate sustainable practices into our business operations and prioritise the health and safety of our people.”

These certifications are significant milestones for Lupin, demonstrating the company's desire to adhere to global standards and reinforcing its position as a leader in the pharmaceutical industry committed to environmental and occupational health and safety excellence, the statement added.
