DARIFENACIN

DARIFENACIN

It blocks M3 muscarinic acetycholine receptor, which are present in urinary bladder smooth muscle. It decreases contraction of bladder so decreases the urgency to urinate.

Indications

to treat symptoms of urgency and frequency


Dosage

PO 7.5- 15 mg once daily


Contra-Indications

Urinary retention, GI obstruction, narrow angle glaucoma, severe hepatic impairment.


Special Precautions

Pregnancy : Use if risk to fetus outweighs benefits. Lactation: Use with caution Children: Safety not established Elderly: Safe to use


Side Effects

Dry mouth, constipation, UTI infection, dry eyes and other anticholinergics symptom.


Drug Interactions

Ketoconazole, itraconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin, nefazadone.
