To provide treatment to patients affected with different types of cancers, the much-awaited Oncology block at Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) is likely to commence in three months.

“Oncology block is almost ready. Some machines are needed to be installed in the block. Hopefully, oncology block should be ready in two to three months,” informed Dr NN Mathur, Director, LHMC.

Dr Mathur, who has recently been appointed as the director, has committed to speed up the construction work of Comprehensive Redevelopment Plan (CRP) that was stalled for years due to various reasons.

The CRP includes different blocks such as OPD block, IPD block, accident, emergency and surgical block, academic and oncology block. These blocks are being constructed in phase one. OPD, IPD, emergency and surgical blocks are also likely to be completed within three months, if the construction development runs at current pace.

In phase two, super specialty block will be constructed while phase three will cover maternal and child block.
