Punjab Govt. Orders DCs to ensure OPDs are open

DTMT Network
The Punjab Government has issued fresh orders to open OPDs in government and private hospitals, including AYUSH hospitals.

The order reads, “OPDs are essential not only for patients suffering from various ailments but would also help in capturing suspected cases of Covid-19.”

“Deputy Commissioners have been asked to hold meetings with Civil Surgeons, the Indian Medical Association and others to ensure that OPDs in all hospitals in the city and rural areas, including AYUSH hospitals and dispensaries, are functional,” the order says.

“Doctor working in private hospitals, nursing homes, diagnostic laboratories be allowed movement without any curfew pass on the basis of their photo identity cards issued by the MCI and IMA,” the order further reads.

AIIMS New Delhi physician, Dr Amarinder Singh Malhi, said that OPDs are usually crowded with patients. There are higher chances that people, who might be suffering from any minor problem, can contract the disease from an infected person and spread the same among the community.”

He has written to Punjab Health Minister and other officials in this regard.
