In a relief for patients and attendants at Osmania General Hospital (OGH), Hyderabad, Help Hand Foundation (HHF), a Hyderabad based NGO, has installed 16 cement benches on either side of the QQDC block in the OGH.

The QQDC houses several key departments including Cardiology, CT theatres, Nephrology and RICU. These areas always have dozens of patient attendants who need proper seating and resting place.

Dr. B. Nagender, OGH Superintendent, said that OGH has also undertaken repair of the flooring which was causing inconvenience to the patients at old building in old MM4 now IMC IP ward, and also at the OPD area, with the aid of the NGO.

Dr Nagendra added that the new tiled areas are making the access smoother and easy for patients while OGH administration is also working on plans to improve patient flow in the OPD block in order to reduce hardship to patients coming for OPD.

Dr Nagendra said that similarly, sections of the old building with defaced walls have been painted to give it a fresh look and religious symbols have been put up to discourage attendants from littering and spitting. This is being done to enhance patient comfort, hygiene and sanitation.
